According to the Meterological Department, both the monsoon brought only 1788.4 millimetre where the expected rate was 2384 millimetre.

The agricultural scientists say that the actual rate of monsoon is much low than the announced scale of rainfall. About 56% of reduction in the catchment areas from where the power is generated brings more botheration to the Electricity Board. Comparing both the years 2011 Nov and 2012 Nov there is a deep dip in the unit of power that can be generated for the use all over the state.

The Board will be in fix if it has to buy power from thermal stations. If board pay Rs. 10 per unit, the expense will range up to Rs 2107 crore. The agricultural sector will be affected drastically and will upset coconut, coffee, vegetables, rubber and pepper crops.

The paddy cultivation will fall to 30% and the agricultural sector will face a loss of 1000 crore.
