According to National Crime Records Bureau [NCRB], 33,887 Children were apprehended in 2011, under Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Special & Local Laws (SLL).<\/p>\n

In May 2012, a tenth standard student in Alappuzha<\/a> district was found dead in the premises of the school. The very next day, the police arrested the killer; his classmate. The boy\u2019s name has been withheld as he is a minor, aged 14.<\/p>\n

The little killer admitted to the police that he killed his classmate to avenge a petty clash between the two when both of them were class IX students. Emotionlessly, he told police that, \u201cI was plotting the murder ever since he manhandled me for complaining against him to the teacher.”<\/p>\n

The student was an ardent lover of Hollywood action movies, which helped him to plan the murder. His way of killing was similar to such scenes in the Hollywood movies.<\/p>\n

The little one\u2019s confession to the police regarding the murder was so shocking and beyond we can expect from a teenager. He got a chance when the school reopened for vacation class. After classes were dispersed at 11.30am, he took his classmate to bathroom. Other students had gone home. He hit him many times and when the other one tried to escape, he slit his throat with a knife and a piece of broken glass.<\/p>\n

The accused had carried the knife and glass piece in his school bag. To confirm his death, he hit his classmate\u2019s head with a granite piece several times. After that, he washed his dress and went home. Later he went to Edathua church and from there to Ambalappuzha and Thakazhi. He was arrested from the Changanassery railway station while waiting to board a train to Kanhangad.\u00a0When we take the family background of the accused, it was seen that he was living with fourth wife of his father.<\/p>\n

Now it\u2019s really a clich\u00e9 that children are engaged in criminal cases<\/strong> more these days. The above said murder case is the extreme of this disaster among children. We can see the little criminals in drug cases, sexual harassment cases, murder cases and every crime happens here. Active discussions are on there to find a way to cleanse our children. But nothing has made an effect so far.<\/p>\n

In this murder case, all blame Hollywood action movies for making that teenager to kill his classmate. But in most of the cases, bad family background leads the children to go wrong. Lack of care from parents, harsh experiences within the family, lack of proper education and guidance make the children isolated in the society. In that condition only, bad friendship or movies can spoil children as films or arts are yet to influence people\u2019s day to day life. If the films influence the character of children, good care and guidance from parents and school will remove it to an extent.<\/p>\n

In this case also, counseling to the accused is the only way to cleanse him to a better life. Assaulting him or locking him in juvenile home is not at all a way to change his attitude. Because he is yet to realize the depth of the crime he did.<\/p>\n
