The Bank has asked the people to suggest the names of famous personalities who have established themselves in different fields instead of Mahatma Gandhi. But doubt still prevails that changing the &#8216;Gandhi head&#8217; will kindle new controversies.<\/p>\n<p>It was in 1987, the &#8216;Gandhi head&#8217; first appeared in Indian Currency, Rs. 500. Before that all notes had &#8216;Asoka Chakra&#8217; on it.
