BMW launched the latest edition to its 6-Series, the 640d Gran Coupe<\/strong><\/em>, in India on Thursday. The first ever 4-door coup\u00e9 from BMW, the 640d is both well-proportioned and elegant.<\/p>\n

Built on the same platform as its 2-door sibling with a minor alteration of an extra 113mm to accommodate the rear frameless doors and larger legroom, this beauty is a treat for the eyes. The Gran Coupe\u2019s physical resemblance to the 2-door coup\u00e9 makes it hard to tell them apart when viewed from the front, sporting the same shark-like nose and forward slanting grille. Measuring over 5 meters long and nearly 2 meters wide, the 640d carries off a surprisingly sporty style thanks its well designed low-slung roof.<\/p>\n

Under the hood sits a 3.0L, twin-turbo, six cylinder diesel engine churning out a roaring 309bhp with a massive 630Nm torque, controlled by an eight speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. With a top speed of 250kmph, the Gran Coup\u00e9 storms to 100kmph in a mere 5.4seconds.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
