Go ahead and pay Rs. 200 for public smoking. The state police department has decided to take public smoking in crime list as per the centre&#8217;s law. Earlier public smoking was in the petty case list with a fine of Rs. 100. The DGP has given instruction to the district police that while reviewing the monthly crimes public smoking should also be included and should also report that how many where fined for the same.<\/p>\n<p>According to COTPA (The Act-2003 is applicable to all products containing tobacco in any form i.e. cigarettes, cigars, cheroots, bidis, gutka, pan masala (containing tobacco) khaini, mawa, mishri, snuff etc. as detailed in the Schedule to the Act.) the police personnel ranking from Sub-Inspector post to higher officials can slap fine on those who do public smoking.<\/p>\n<p>The government hope to bring down the use of cigrattes and other tobacco products through this stringent law COPTA. As per the Food Protection Act the use of pan masala has already been banned in the state.<\/p>\n<p>According the Health Ministry around <strong>nine lakh people die due to cigarette smoking<\/strong> and usage of other tobacco products in the country per year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Are you planning to break rules?
