The Central government is set to pass a law making husbands liable to pay their wives for toiling at home<\/strong>. The decision to pass this law was taken earlier itself by the Centre for Women and Child Development department. Currently they are conducting surveys to collect information.<\/p>\n The kind, nature and amount of work carried out by women is collected in this survey. National Women and Child Development minister, Smt. Krishna Tirath said that all efforts will be made to pass this law as soon as possible.<\/p>\n The Ministry explains that the main aim behind this law is to allow wives to be on similar grounds as their husbands in terms of their economic status. According to the current family structure, only the husband’s work is taken into consideration. While the wife’s labour within the interiors of the house day in and day out \u00a0is completely disregarded. Supposing the work done by wives is assigned to some one else, they would have to be paid. \u00a0Wives should also be seen in the same light.<\/p>\n Men’s associations have gone on record to register their protest against the ministry’s move.
