Tourism drive takes a new face in capital city. Its a matter of one ticket that can carry you all around-hai&#8230; not for one day but for two! This new venture of the state tourism department&#8217;s bus service plan will commence her maiden drive in next January.<\/p>\n<p>Nick-named<strong> &#8216;Hip-on Hip-off&#8217;<\/strong>, the traveller can take ticket from the bus for the set destination of his\/her own and can get down at the place. After visiting the place he\/she can catch another &#8216;Hip-on\/Hip-off&#8217; which will carry to the next desired destination. So the name defines it all.<\/p>\n<p>The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (<a title=\"Mass dismissal of KSRTC employees\" href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/mass-dismissal-of-ksrtc-employees\/\" target=\"_blank\">KSRTC<\/a>) is the implementing agency for the project. A facelift will be given to KSRTC low floor bus to run as tourist bus. A proposal has been put forth that the service be started on an experimental basis in the capital city with five low-floor buses plying two routes.<\/p>\n<p>The first route with 20-km will be deployed with three buses. It will have a route schedule which start from East Fort (Padmanabhaswamy temple, Kuthiramalika, Chalai Market, etc) and proceed to Airport, Sanghumugham Beach, Science and Technology Museum, PMG, Napier Museum, Palayam (Church, Mosque, Temple), Statue (Secretariat, and SMSM institute) and culminate at East Fort.<\/p>\n<p>The second route will have two buses covering a distance of 46 kms which will start its service from Vizhinjam and proceed to <a title=\"Kovalam \u2013 The Paradise Found\" href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/kovalam-the-paradise-found\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kovalam<\/a>, Thiruvallam backwaters, Airport, <a title=\"Shanghumugham Beach \u2013 Run your toes through the sand\" href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/shanghumugham-beach\/\" target=\"_blank\">Shanghumugham Beach<\/a>, Vettukad Church, Veli tourist village and Akkulam tourist village.<\/p>\n<p>It has been decided that 10% of the seats in the buses will be set aside for daily commuters and the ticket for normal passengers will be priced at Rs. 50 and those for tourists, Rs. 300.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8216;<em><strong>Hop-on Hop-off<\/strong><\/em>&#8216; service will be there only during tourist season.
