Mathrubhumi Group-one of the popular print media is all set to launch two new channels- a news channel called Mathrubhumi News<\/em><\/strong> and a speciality channel named Kappa<\/strong>. Mathrubhumi announced the news on their website and the broadcasting of the channels will begin soon.<\/p>\n

“At the moment, system integration is going on for both the channels and in June, test runs will start. The test signals are on for the news channel, which will be launched second after the speciality channel.” said Shreyams Kumar, Director, Mathrubhumi<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Kappa channel<\/strong> will be launched first and it will be a pure entertainment channel focusing on mix of music, lifestyle and trivia. Whereas Mathrubhumi News will be hard core news channel and will give a close competition to other news channels like Asianet News, Manorama News, Reporter TV and India Vision.<\/p>\n

The group also said that the channels will have experienced professionals along with state of the art technology. The channel had already roped some of the leading media personalities from other channels to give Mathurbhumi News<\/strong> a blossom look. Both the channels are Free-To-Air (FTA) and the group is trying to place the channels in the prime band across Kerala. Mathrubhumi Group already discussed with major DTH (Direct to Home) players to reach out to various parts of the world which include Europe and the Americas. Initially they will be focusing on establishing the channels in Kerala. NDTV provided the technical support for the Mathrubhumi to set up the two channels.
