The staff nurses can wear white churidar with overcoat and Field nurses white churidar. The Health Minister VS Sivakumar in a high level meeting of Health Department approved the proposal of nurses to come on duty wearing churidars and overcoat. Those who wish to wear the traditional saree would not be compelled to follow the new dress code.<\/p>\n<p>The State Government Nurses Association welcomed the progressive step taken by the Health Department. The sources in the Health Department said that considering the &#8216;inconvenience&#8217; of saree, it has allowed the nurses to wear the &#8216;more convenient&#8217; churidar and over coat.<\/p>\n<p>The Association state committee member Somasekharn Nair said that &#8220;Nurses often find it difficult to change over to saree after coming to hospitals from their home wearing churidar. Most hospitals do not have dressing rooms. So, they have to change over to uniform by going behind the cupboards in the hospital wards.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The uniform for nurses in many private hospitals in the state had already been shifted from saree to churidar.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The new uniform for staff nurses and field nurses in Health Department will come into existence from tomorrow onwards.
