It will be held on 8<sup>th<\/sup> and 9<sup>th<\/sup> of December at the Colachel stadium, Pangode.<\/p>\n<p>It is being held to generate awareness about the Indian Army. It is also seen as a platform to encourage the youngsters of the country to join the Defence force.<\/p>\n<p>The mela will be inaugurated by the Defence Minister A K Antony with a weapons and equipment display that include heavy machine guns and tanks that the public can view and hop on.<\/p>\n<p>100 war widows will be felicitated with gifts and cash awards. The State government has contributed Rs 5 lakh towards this.<\/p>\n<p>Nine mobility scooters will be distributed to wounded war veterans. The mela will also showcase a motorcycle display by Army Dare Devils, Special Forces Operations, sky diving by commandos from Agra, a dog show from the Remount and Veterinary Corps (RVC) Centre and School,Meerut. An equestrian show will be put up by the Army Service Corps, Bengaluru. A Kalaripayattu performance will follow this. The Army band will conduct a concert afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>An array of military hardware, information kiosks for recruitment into the Indian Army and welfare of ex-Army personnel and widows will also be part of the mela.
