An astounding inaugural ceremony awaits all IFFK<\/a> lovers this year. The 17th edition kicks off with the screening of Alfred Hitchcok’s silent film “The Ring<\/a>“.<\/p>\n

A model of the Roosevelt theatre in Los Angeles where the film premiered in 1926 will be emulated at the entrance of Kanakakkunnu palace<\/a>. Arrangements for this is on fast track now.<\/p>\n

The screen at the Nishagandhi auditorium is also being set in the old fashion. The stage curtains will split before the movie starts. Director, T K Rajeev Kumar<\/a> who is managing the inaugural event let out this information.<\/p>\n

Live orchestration of a new score created by the sextet led by British Jazz artiste Soweto Kinch will accompany the movie. This piece of orchestration is being conducted to commemorate the 75th year of the first talkie in Malayalam, “Balan” directed by S Nottani in 1938.<\/p>\n

The 72 minute silent film revolves around the plot of boxing. While Hitchcock himself scripted the movie, Jack E Cox is the cinematographer of the movie.<\/p>\n
