The latest edition of IFFK will pay homage to film personalities who passed away during the past year.<\/p>\n
Tribute will be paid to these celebrated individuals in the Homage section. Thilakan, Appachan, Vindhyan, T Damodaran, Jose Prakash, C P Padmakumar, Ashok Mehta, Chris Marker and Kenato Shindo will be remembered.<\/p>\n
Surendranath Thilakan<\/a> is one of the most celebrated names of Malayalam cinema. He has two National Awards and nine State awards in his name. His widely acclaimed movie Perunthachan will be featured in this year’s IFFK<\/a>.<\/p>\n The man behind Indian cinema’s\u00a0 first 3D movie, My Dear Kuttichathan, and first 70mm movie ,Padayottam, Maliampurackal Chacko Punnoose is affectionately called Navodaya Appachan. This renowned producer is the\u00a0 founder of Navodaya Studio. IFFK will run ‘Ente Mamattykuttyammakku’ produced by the veteran and directed by Fazil.<\/p>\n Vindhyan produced over 20 films in Malayalam. He started his\u00a0 production career with Shalini Ente Kootukari at the age of 19. Arike, his film directed by Shyamaprasad will be screened at the festival.<\/p>\n The scriptwriter of Kalapani, T Damodaran had teamed up with Priyadarshan to create many hits like Aryan, Adwaitham, Kalapani and Abhimanyu. The festival will feature Kalapani.<\/p>\n The name synonmous with ‘villain’ in Malayalam cinema, Jose Prakash also passed away this year. He has acted in about 350 movies and he started his career as a singer. Olavum Theeravum, directed by P N Menon will find its way to the IFFK screen.<\/p>\n C P Padmakumar, the art-director turned director and producer, known for films such as Aparna and Sammohanam will also be remembered with the screening of Sammohanam.<\/p>\n Ashok Mehta held the camera for films like Bandit Queen, 36 Chowringee Lane and Utsav. The two time National award winner also bid adieu in 2012. Bandit Queen will feature at the carnival.<\/p>\n Chris Marker entered direction with the film titled Olympia 5 revolving around the 1952 Olympic Games. La jetee, the french film will be screened at the fiesta.<\/p>\n
