Fluorescent lights are everywhere today but it is liked less due to its incessant flicker. The new light variant is based on FIPEL(Field Induced Polymer Electro Luminescent) technology. It is made from layers of light emitting polymer with nano materials that glow when electric current is introduced. It also gives a soft white light, unlike the yellowish shade from fluorescent light or bluish tinge from LEDs. The creator also claims that it is more long-lasting.

The experimental light is developed by a team led by physicist Prof. David Caroll. The light does not contain mercury or any other caustic material, therefore they won’t release any harmful gases.

The university hopes that the FIPEL lights will hit the market in 2013 itself.

Bid adieu to fluorescent light bulbs as technology is here to take you to the next station.
