Powered using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, smart pass will look just like your ATM card, except it will have all the details of the user including a photograph. With the smart pass, you don\u2019t need to carry any money with you and makes your bus journey a lot easier. Once you board the bus with a smart card, all you need to do is to hand over your card to the conductor. The conductor will then flash your card on to the \u2018Electronic Ticket Machines'(ETM) and the machine will generate your ticket.<\/p>\n<p>All the details including the destination, fare and balance amount available in the card will be printed on the ticket. You can top-up your card by paying the amount to the conductor. A facility to recharge the card will be soon introduced in bus stations.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With the introduction of the Smart Pass, KSRTC will have more accountability. As of now, we are not able to calculate the exact revenue generated from concession tickets and season tickets. At present, the conductor just notes down the season tickets and concession tickets manually, and people misuse such tickets,&#8221; said a senior officer.<\/p>\n<p>Tender procedures have already started by KSRTC to purchase a new batch of ETM within two months.
