The commercial sponsor of Ubuntu, the Canonical Ltd announced its new smartphone interface on Tuesday and will show off the <strong>Ubuntu OS<\/strong> at the International CES a major technology-related trade show. For Ubuntu; this isn\u2019t its first foray into devices outside desktop.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cpWHJDLsqTU?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"500\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Earlier Canonical Ltd has launched Ubuntu for TV sets and has spent time building out its cloud infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-6710\" title=\"ubuntu os smartphones images\" src=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/files\/2013\/01\/ubuntu-os-smartphones-images.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"237\" srcset=\"https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/files\/2013\/01\/ubuntu-os-smartphones-images.png 867w, https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/files\/2013\/01\/ubuntu-os-smartphones-images-699x331.png 699w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Ubuntu Mobile OS<\/strong> is built around Google&#8217;s <a title=\"Google Nexus 4 expected to be released in India by January\" href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/google-nexus-4-expected-to-be-released-in-india-by-january\/\" target=\"_blank\">Android OS<\/a> and it takes advantage of multi-core Smartphones to connect the mobile experience of Android with the productivity of the Ubuntu desktop experience. <strong>Ubuntu Phone&#8217;s OS<\/strong> have all the usual features such as telephony and voicemail, SMS, MMS, Web browsing, email and multimedia applications such as photo and video.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-6711 alignleft\" title=\"ubuntu mobile phone os pics\" src=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/files\/2013\/01\/ubuntu-mobile-phone-os-pics.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"188\" height=\"337\" srcset=\"https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/files\/2013\/01\/ubuntu-mobile-phone-os-pics.png 326w, https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/files\/2013\/01\/ubuntu-mobile-phone-os-pics-260x466.png 260w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 188px) 100vw, 188px\" \/>There is also an all in one inbox which provides access to emails, texts, calls, and <a title=\"Facebook a medium for cyber bullying?\" href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/entenews\/facebook-a-medium-for-cyber-bullying\/\" target=\"_blank\">social media<\/a> posts. When you get a new notification, you can swipe from the top and reply directly to <a title=\"Facebook\u2019s \u2018Couples\u2019 pages \u2013 Cute or Creepy?\" href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/facebooks-couples-pages-cute-or-creepy\/\" target=\"_blank\">Facebook<\/a>, Twitter, email, texts, and calls. The <em>Ubuntu OS<\/em> also supports HTML5, and HTML5 apps written for other platforms.<\/p>\n<p>A short swipe from the left edge of the screen will show users favourite apps and a full left to right swipe opens a screen showing all current running applications. If you swipe from the bottom, the phone shows app controls. You can also connect your Ubuntu phone to a keyboard, mouse, and large monitor to seamlessly switch from mobile to desktop mode.\u00a0Canonical provided the system requirements for two versions of the <strong><em>Ubuntu smartphone<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The entry level model has a 1GHz Cortex A9 processor, 512MB to 1GB of memory, 4GB- 8GB of Flash storage, and has multi-touch support. While the high end model is powered by quad-core A9 or Intel Atom and contains a minimum of 1GB of memory and a minimum of 32GB of flash.
