The installation of the decentralised solution to waste management was inaugurated by Trivandrum Corporation Mayor K. Chandrika at a function held at the <strong>temple hall in Puthen Street<\/strong> on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The incinerator will process the waste generated at the temple and a hall adjacent to it. After the closure of the Vilappilsala solid waste management factory, <a href=\"http:\/\/entecity.com\" target=\"_blank\">Trivandrum<\/a> city began to sink in its own garbage. The areas in the city most affected by the garbage are the wards surrounding Padmanabhaswamy Temple- Fort, Sreekanteshwaram and Manacaud. These are densely populated areas. Photo: S.Mahinsha<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cEven the <em><strong>Padmanabhaswamy Temple<\/strong> <\/em>is yet to set up a system. The move by RGS would prompt others to come up with solutions on their own,\u201d said Ms. Chandrika. She also said that Shanthi Kavadam \u2013 the city&#8217;s crematorium at Thycaud is using the same technology of electrical incineration and so far no complaints had been raised by the public regarding air pollution. The mayor also urged those present to avoid the use of plastic carry bags.<\/p>\n<p>R. Suresh, president of RGS said that the society used to draw high expenditure by appointing an agency to collect the waste from the neighbourhoods and dispose it elsewhere. The purchase and installation of the incinerator costs Rs 3Lakh. He also said that, the waste will be separated into paper and organic waste.
