The &#8216;<strong>Multi-Organ Transplant centre<\/strong>&#8216; with 200 crore initial investment, will come up in <a href=\"http:\/\/listing.entecity.com\/business\/medical-college-hospital\" target=\"_blank\">Medical College campus in Trivandrum<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The centre will have 200 faculties, 1200 Doctors and state of the art systems and will bring revolutionary change in the medical sector. The preliminary discussions about the project has been carried out with Planning board and the Ministry of Health, however the final draft of the project will be available only after declaring the 12th Five year plan.<\/p>\n<p>The aim is to bring all the organ transplants under one umbrella. Currently, different organ transplants are carried out at different speciality centres. The project was put forward by the experts at the <a href=\"http:\/\/listing.entecity.com\/business\/medical-college-hospital\" target=\"_blank\">Trivandrum Medical College<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Centre Government will finance the cadaveric organ transplant centre during the 12th Five Year Plan and space needed for the centre has been located inside the Medical college campus. The Multi-Organ Transplant centre will follow the same model of the Regional Cancer Centre operating inside medical college campus.<\/p>\n<p>The organ transplant operations are carried out at different hospitals across the country but there are no government organizations to coordinate the transplant operations. As a result large numbers of people are not able to have organ transplant operation in time. Spain, has one of the highest cadaveric organ transplant rate with 30 per million populations, while in India, the rate is only 0.08 per million populations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Trivandrum will soon have the first Government operated Organ transplant centre in the state.
