The new bridge over the Killiyar River is meant to ease traffic movement at Maruthamkuzhi Junction.<\/p>\n<p>It has a total length of 26.58 metres with 4 span structures. The approach road at Sathamangalam is 65 metres long while the approach road at Maruthamkuzhi side is 325 metres long.<\/p>\n<p>The two-wheeler riders and pedestrians are already begun using the bridge as it shortens the distance by about one kilometre and helps motorists avoid a winding curve on the main road. Maruthamkuzhi Bridge is an 18 year old project and the construction of the bridge was started by the previous government. The bridge was supposed to open to public in June 2012 but the work lagged owing to many reasons, such as the delay in moving a water supply pipeline on the Maruthamkuzhi side to one side by the KWA officials.<\/p>\n<p>PWD Minister V K Ebrahim Kunju will preside over the function.
