The Rs.1.43-crore traditional bali mandapam on the Papanasam beach and the Rs.10-crore centre will be set up using the funds provided by the State and the Central Planning Commission.<\/p>\n<p>A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for Varkala will be formed to speed up the process. Minister for Tourism A.P. Anil Kumar will lay the foundation stone for the bali mandapam on January 16.<\/p>\n<p>KINFRA will prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Centre for Performing Arts. The Performing Arts was put forwarded by the Central Planning Commission under the one-time additional Central assistance for 2012-13.<\/p>\n<p>Green signal for the two projects have been given by the Empowered Committee of the SPV for Varkala. The mandapam will come up to the left of the Papanasam beach where the road adjacent to Janardana Swami Temple ends. The complex will have two tiers and is spread over 3,000 sq ft.<\/p>\n<p>Habitat Technology Group will execute the project and the work is expected to be completed within a year. \u201cThe design of the traditional mandapam has been finalised after consultations with Kanippayyur Krishnan Namboodiripad,\u201d said architect Sankar.<br \/>\nThe 2000 year old temple Janardana Swami Temple is situated on a steep hill facing the Papanasam beach.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>bali mandapam<\/strong> has been designed in such way that it will not obstruct the view of the architectural splendour of the temple and also to blend with the beauty of the beach.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Varkala will soon get a new bali mandapam and a Centre for Performing Arts at a cost of Rs.11.43 crore.
