Sony has launched the world\u2019s thinnest and lightest 10.1-inch tablet – The Xperia Tablet Z<\/strong><\/em>. Xperia Tablet Z measures 6.9mm in thickness and weighs 495 grams. Just to illustrate how thin the Xperia Z is, then one should compare it to the iPad mini which measures 7.2mm (iPad 4 measures 9.4mm, and Google\u2019s Nexus 10 is 8.9mm thick).<\/p>\n

Just like the Xperia Z smartphone, which can be safely dunked into 3 feet of liquid, Xperia Tablet Z<\/strong> is also waterproof and dustproof.<\/p>\n

Features wise it has a 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 1920\u00d71200 augmented by Sony\u2019s \u2018Mobile Bravia Engine\u2019. The Xperia Z running on Android 4.1 OS is powered by a Qualcomm 1.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon chip with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. There is also a microSD expansion slot.<\/p>\n

Xperia Tablet Z<\/span> has an 8.1 megapixel Exmor R camera. Another feature of the Xperia Tablet Z is the “S-Force Front Surround 3D” – that brings together movement and sound to achieve a sense of spaciousness. It supports both Near Field Communications (NFC) and LTE for 4G as well.<\/p>\n

It will be available in two colours – black and white. The tablet will be available in Japan this spring. However, there is no word on India-launch timing, or price in india of the Sony Xperia Tablet Z<\/strong>. Given its high-end specifications, the Xperia Tablet Z probably won’t come cheap.<\/p>\n
