Footsbarn the French travelling theatre will play the \u2018Indian Tempest<\/strong>\u2018- a reworking of Shakespeare\u2019s \u2018Tempest\u2019 with a Kerala touch in Trivandrum<\/a> on January 25<\/strong>. The \u2018Indian Tempest\u2019 will be played at the Government Women\u2019s College, Vazhuthacaud<\/strong>, at 7 pm in collaboration with \u2018Abhinaya\u2019 \u2013a theatre practitioner\u2019s group. The play will feature 5 artists from Kerala.<\/p>\n

“In 35 years, Footsbarn has produced nearly 60 plays and travelled to 6 continents and is a truly multinational group. The actors possess a multiplicity of talents and theatrical techniques all of which inhabit and enrich every performance” said Alliance Francaise de Trivandrum.<\/p>\n

Footsbarn first collaborated with Abhinaya theatre group in 1994, when it visited Kerala to stage \u2018Romeo and Juliet\u2019. Five artistes from Kerala were chosen that time. Later in 1999 three artistes were chosen to be a part of Footsbarn\u2019s adaptation of Homer\u2019s \u2018La Odyssey\u2019. Footsbarn was in India again in 2005 to perform \u2018Perchance to Dream.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018Indian Tempest\u2019 was planned in five phases. Footsbarn shifted to Guimares in Portugal between March and May and the first performance was in May 2012. Last year January \u2018Abhinaya\u2019 hosted many rehearsals in Trivandrum.<\/p>\n

Footsbarn<\/strong> played the \u2018Indian Tempest\u2019 all over Europe from June to October including performances at the famous Globe Theatre in London. The Indian tour is scheduled in February 2013. Apart from Trivandrum Footsbarn<\/strong> will perform \u2018Indian Tempest\u2019 in New Delhi, Bangalore, Goa, Hyderabad, Chennai and Thrissur.<\/p>\n
