After a long delay, Research In Motion Ltd (RIM) unveiled the first two smart phones powered by the new Blackberry 10 operating system – BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry Q10<\/strong>. RIM announced that it changed its corporate name to BlackBerry, to maintain a single brand.<\/p>\n

The BlackBerry \u00a0Z10<\/strong> is a 4.2inch full touch smartphone whereas the BlackBerry \u00a0Q10<\/strong> has a smaller 3.1inch screen with physical keys.<\/p>\n

New OS:\u00a0BlackBerry 10 OS<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The company introduced the new smartphones along with a revamped operating system called ‘BlackBerry 10<\/strong>‘, which focuses on touch-screen controls, a concept popularized by Apple’s iPhone and various devices running Google’s Android OS.<\/p>\n

With the new BlackBerry 10 OS<\/strong> people can switch BBM chat to a BBM Video conversation and talk face-to-face. The company claims that BlackBerry 10 OS is ultra fast and has cool features such as smart cameras and a large app library similar to Google Play. BlackBerry announced that over 70,000 apps are now available for BlackBerry 10 devices and includes Skype, Amazon Kindle, WhatsApp, SAP and Angry Birds.<\/p>\n

There is also a feature called ‘BlackBerry Balance’ which allows the phone to operate as both a business and personal device entirely separate from each other. There is also a \u2018Blackberry hub\u2019 which integrates social network notifications in addition to BBM and email. People can act on notifications without leaving the Blackberry hub. For example uses can tweet directly from the hub.<\/p>\n

The company also demonstrated the “BlackBerry Flow” feature for multitasking. “For me, the BlackBerry hub is the most exciting thing about BlackBerry10, said Vivek Bhardwaj, head of software portfolio, BlackBerry.<\/p>\n

BlackBerry 10 smart phones will hit UK first followed by Canada and UAE. BlackBerry 10 phones won\u2019t appear in the U.S. until March. However there’s no word yet on price of BlackBerry 10 device.<\/p>\n

BlackBerry will launch an advertising campaign to promote the phones like aggressive social media marketing, which includes posts from celebrities on their Twitter accounts. The company has appointed Alicia Keys popular American singer-songwriter and actress as its global creative director.<\/p>\n
