If you receive one you can safely assume it is a scam. Police Crime Branch is warning public about fraudulent SMSes and emails which they receive and not to fall victim to cyber frauds.<\/p>\n<p>The police also said that, people should be careful not to fall into the trap of fake SMSes and e-mails claiming the recipient has won a lottery or the user&#8217;s mobile number has won prizes. The police had warned the public that those getting such fake e-mails should not click the link associated with the email or give any personal information as demanded.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If the link is clicked it will go to fake sites. Also any of the attachments in the mail should not be opened. Such mails from unknown persons should be deleted.&#8221;- According to a release issued by the state police.<\/p>\n<p>Crime branch also warned that if fraudsters get your personal information like credit card details or bank account details, the fraudsters can transfer the victim&#8217;s money to their bank accounts. Recently a Mumbai woman&#8217;s credit card was used in over 20 transactions within 12 hours across 4 continents to run up a bill of over Rs 2 lakh.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If anyone is duped by such mails or SMSes then a formal complaint should be registered in the nearest police station.&#8221; the release said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Do you get emails saying &#8216;You have won a lottery&#8216;?
