Mahindra Reva, part of the Mahindra Group launched its first electric car ‘e2o’ priced at Rs 5.96 lakh<\/strong>. The car comes from the Reva Electric Car Company, which Mahindra Group<\/a> bought in 2010, and the company says it plans to extend the technology in the e20 to two-seat cars in the future.<\/p>\n

The two-door, four-seater car is powered by new generation lithium-ion batteries and a 3-phase induction electric motor. It has driving range of 100 kms per charge and will take 5 hours for the battery to be fully charged. The fully automatic car is designed for city driving.<\/p>\n

“The car will use next generation Lithium Ion batteries and will have a range of 100kms on a full charge, which is suitable for most urban commuters today.” Says Mahindra Reva.<\/p>\n

To support electric cars, the company has set up over 250 charging stations across the country, 95 in Delhi alone. Mahindra e2o<\/strong> is equipped with regenerative braking feature, which puts energy back into the car’s batteries and charges them every time it is slowed down or brakes are applied.<\/p>\n

The Mahindra e2o<\/strong> will allow users to carry out self fuelling through any 15 amp plug point at home or at their workplace. Using \u2018Sun2Car\u2019 solar technology, charging time can be reduced. It also has the latest features like keyless entry, start\/stop button, GPS navigation system etc.<\/p>\n
