Amidray Technologies Pvt Ltd, a Kochi-based start-up firm has come up with a community Android application called “Blockout Traffic<\/strong>“, which informs people about traffic blocks within a 25-30 km radius.<\/p>\n

Blockout Traffic is the country’s “first free-and-easy traffic mobile application” for those on the move. Using GPS, Blockout Traffic locates the exact position of the user. The app will show the name of the roads and locations in the users’ area, indicating where there is a traffic block. The application works with a community, called the “Blockout community” where members can post accounts of traffic blocks whenever they encounter one. \u00a0The phone should have internet connectivity in order to post blocks and get traffic updates.<\/p>\n

“We have focused on android since it has more than 50 per cent of the Indian smart phone market. We are also planning to release the app in other platforms in the near future. We will be implementing soon a feature wherein the app will give automatic traffic updates to the user,” said Nithin Bose, co-founder and chief technology officer at AmidRay.<\/p>\n
