Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Trivandrum (IISER Trivandrum)<\/strong> is an institution dedicated to scientific research and science education of international standards.<\/p>\n

IISERs were established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. IISER Trivandrum<\/strong> which started functioning in 2008 is located in the campus of College of Engineering, Trivandrum<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A permanent campus of IISER Trivandrum is coming at 200 acres in Vithura 40 km from Trivandrum, at the foothills of the Ponmudi hills of the Western Ghats. IISER-TVM provides high quality education in modern science, integrating it with outstanding research at the undergraduate level itself.<\/p>\n

There are only four IISER institutes in India other than Trivandrum and they are located at Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali and Pune.<\/p>\n

Courses Offered in\u00a0IISER Thiruvananthapuram<\/h2>\n

IISER Trivandrum offers many courses including 5 Year BS-MS programme in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and inter-disciplinary areas, Integrated Ph.D. Programme, Ph.D. Programme, Post Doctoral programme and summer visiting students programme. The institution also offers facilities for doing research in these areas.<\/p>\n

Application to IISER Trivandrum for BS-MS dual degree program<\/h3>\n

To apply for admission in IISER, students can apply through 3 channels. All 5 IISER’s admit students through a common application and counselling process.<\/p>\n

IIT-JEE entrance:<\/strong> Students obtaining a minimum aggregate of 60% marks in class 12 and securing a place in the rank list of Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) for the admission to IIT’s can admission to IISER.<\/p>\n

State and Central Boards:<\/strong> Students who have passed class 12 or appearing for board exam with<\/p>\n

  1. Aggregate marks above or equal to the cut-off percentage declared by DST as eligibility for INSPIRE fellowship. More info here<\/a>.<\/li>\n

    Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana:<\/strong> \u00a0A scholarship program funded by the Department of Science and Technology of the Central government.<\/div>\n

    You can apply through multiple channels provided that you satisfy the criteria for each of the channels you want to apply through. However, it requires separate application and fee for each channel.<\/p>\n

    Admission to IISER Trivandrum<\/h3>\n

    Students should pass the aptitude test conducted by IISERs. Shortlisted candidates will be called for counselling. Students can choose any one of the IISER’s for counselling while applying. Syllabus for the IISER Aptitude Test can be downloaded by clicking here<\/a>. Aptitude Test is a 3 hour test comprising of 60 multiple choice questions from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.<\/p>\n

    You can give preference to your choice of IISER in the application form. The allotment to IISER is purely on the basis of the applicant’s preferences and the ranks. Please note that, allotment to an IISER is final and students cannot transfer to another IISER. Students cannot be a day-scholar at IISERs.<\/p>\n
