Go Mangolicious!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Mango festival is back in town. \u00a0The 11 day long National Mango and Honey festival organized by <strong>State Horticulture Mission<\/strong> and the <strong>Mango Growers\u2019 Association<\/strong> will begin at Kanakaunnu Palace ground on May2.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mango fest-2013<\/strong> is a much awaited event. Last year, around 100 tonnes of the fruit were on display and around 90 tonnes of mango varieties got sold off.<\/p>\n<p>This year festival will showcase all endemic and exotics varieties of mangoes including some of the sweetest varieties like \u2018Sindooram\u2019 and \u2018Panchavarnam\u2019. The National Mango fest will serve as a platform for the mango growers from across India to meet the local mango lovers and provide them with a chance to taste the various varieties that are otherwise locally unavailable.<\/p>\n<p>The organizers will make arrangements for the sale of an array of varieties of mangoes such as Jehangir, Salem, Banglora, Desari and common varieties of Varikka, Nambiar, Kaappadi, Neelam, Farankiladuva, Chandrakaran, Kotturkonam, Chakkarakutti, Moovandan and Kilichundan.<\/p>\n<p>The State Horticulture Mission has already taken measures to make sure that chemically-treated, artificially-ripened mangoes are not brought into the state. The festival will also have exhibition-cum-sale of honey and honey based products. 10 Breeders operating under Horticorp will put up their stalls at the fest.
