Arsenal Soccer School Kicks Off in Kerala

Arsenal Soccer School, Kerala has successfully kicked off the venture in its first center in Cochin.

Good news for Football lovers. After establishing itself in the Europe, UAE, Africa and various other parts of the world, Arsenal Soccer School has reached Kerala as well, after the launch in other cities in India. Sportico Ventures Pvt Ltd, a Sports Management company in association with India on Track- the official partner of Arsenal Soccer Schools in India, has launched the academy in Kerala.

“The academy’s vision is to provide world class, professional level football coaching to school-going students and make them efficient football players”, says Francis Noel Ben, Managing Director of Sportico Ventures.

Arsenal Soccer School, Kerala has successfully kicked off the venture in its first center – The Choice School, Thrippunithura with over 100 students from 3rd grade to 12th participating in the programme. Rafael Fernandez Martin, a UEFA certified coach has been appointed directly by Arsenal FC to take charge of Kerala’s first center. “I have come down from Spain and will be here for another year. To me, it wasn’t easy to move from my country to a completely new place, but the prime idea of this academy excites me. I want kids to know what this sport is all about”, says Rafa.

This year around programme not only focuses on providing professional football coaching; it also helps the kids to develop an active lifestyle. “It’s shocking to see 10, 12 year old kids being lazy to play, or feeling tired after a 5-minutes run. I have designed this programme in such a way that the kids learn the game through various fun and interactive games, and gets the eye-leg coordination right”, Rafa continues.

“Sports has always been my first priority. But, I somehow didn’t get proper guidance to become what I wanted to be – a sportsman. However, through this venture, I am aiming at giving the future generation who have similar interests, the best of training and guidance and help them fulfill their dream”, Noel explains.

Noel and Rafa concurred that parents should understand that an hour of Football can help their kids improve physically as well as mentally than an hour of PlayStation which in turn affects their stamina. “Also, parents should also know that being a professional footballer can be equally reputed as an Engineer or Doctor. In a few years’ time, we will reach there”, Noel said.

The kids will get sessions of one hour each thrice a week, with Rafa and his assistant coaches giving them individual attention, which is highly important for their improvement. Rafa intends to track the progress of the kids and help them accordingly. The academy will soon launch new centers across Kerala and hopes to find out the right talents and give them the platform to get International attention.

Malayalees’ love for football has always been spectacular. Be it Malappuram, Kozhikode, Thrissur or Kochi, this one game has bound fans together. The recent 60,000+ supporters showing up for the Kerala Blasters FC Vs Chennaiyin FC match in Cochin is one of the many examples that could affirm this statement. But, it is quite saddening that no matter how good our state or national players are, we still haven’t got accreditation like other sports. With Arsenal Soccer School, the pride venture of the renowned Arsenal FC, we can hope that this would change quite soon.
