Cycling for a better future – Monthly cycle rally in Trivandrum

The club hopes to conduct awareness drives in school and colleges in the city to initiate cycling as a way of life.

Indus Cycling Embassy Saturday Cycle Ride Movement (ICESCRiM) is organizing monthly cycle rally in Trivandrum for promoting cycling among public and to spread the message ‘Save Energy Save Earth and Stay Healthy‘ by opting greener alternative like cycling in everyday life. This is the first of its kind event in Kerala and the organization aims to create awareness among the public to lead a healthy life reducing the use of fossil fuels.

Rally will be flagged off by Dr. Adimurthy , Satish Dhawan Professor and Dean of Research at the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST). He will also take part in the rally. Prakash P Gopinath a Senior Section Engineer at the Indian Railway stared the Indus Cycle Embassy. Students at the Lakshmibhai National College of Physical Education (LNCP) Karyavattom will participate in the campaign along with actor Joby.

ICESCRiM is a mass awareness monthly cycle rally for promoting cycling in Trivandrum every Second Saturday from Manaveeyam Veedhi at Vellayambalam from 6.30 am to 8 am. The rally that starts from Manaveeyam road will go through Vazuthcaud, Thycaud, Killippalam, Attakkulangara, East Fort, Statue, Palayam, Assan Square, PMG, Pattom, Kuravankonam, Kowdiar, Vellayambalam and finally at Manaveeyam road, covering a total distance of 10Km.

The club hopes to conduct awareness drives in school and colleges in the city to initiate cycling as a way of life. Earlier the club conducted rally to raise funds for Chilla – a home for Children of sex workers and a campaign against the introduction of genetically modified foods in India. It was a journey from Kasaragod to Trivandrum covering almost 800 kms. Two months ago cycling club joined the national campaign on ‘Save Arctic’ along with ‘Green Peace’ organization.

The event is open to public and anyone can join at Manaveyam Veedhi or en-route for a part of rally.
