The name 'Lumia' is the partitive plural form of the word Lumi, which means snow in the Finnish language.
Nokia finally unveiled their new line of Windows 8 Smart phones in New York. The Finnish hand-set maker is hoping to get back in the Smartphone game with Windows 8 enabled phones. Nokia calls the new Lumia line up as “the most innovative Smartphone in the world”. However according to the reports the new Windows phones from Nokia has failed to impress the investors.
Nokia Lumia 920
Unlike Lumia 800 and 900, Lumia 920 doesn’t have Cyan color instead it has Banana Yellow and even silver.
Screen : Nokia Lumia 920 is similar in design as the Lumia 900. Lumia 920 has 4.5-inch “Nokia Pure Motion HD Plus” display with a resolution of 1,280×768 pixels.
Processor and Internals: Lumia 920 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon s4 1.5GHz dual core processor and 1GB Ram. It has 32GB internal storage. With Windows 8 as its OS, Lumia 920 is the Nokia’s fastest phone yet. There is also a big 2000mAh battery for running everything.
Camera: Lumia920 has an 8 Megapixel camera with pure view technology. The camera is able to shoot videos at 1080p HD. Other features include image stabilization and a pair of flashes to use at night.
Wireless charging: The outstanding feature of Nokia Lumia 920 is the wireless charging. This means when you need to charge your phone, you only need to place the phone on the “Fatboy wireless recharge pillow” and the phone should charge straight away.
Apps: Both Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 has inbuilt apps such as Nokia Drive and Nokia Maps for navigation and Nokia City Lens which is an augmented reality app. Other exciting feature is the preloaded Angry Birds.
Nokia Lumia 820
Lumia 820 is the low end model of 920.It has a 4.3-inch screen with clear black OLED display. The screen has a resolution of 800X480. Super Sensitive touch screen let you use it even with the gloves on.
Processor and Internals: Like the Lumia920, Lumia 820 is also powered by 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core. It also has the same amount of RAM (1GB) like the Lumia 920.But the difference between the two comes when there is only 8 GB internal Memory and a Micro SD expansion slot. Lumia820 has a 1650 mAh battery which is slightly less than that of 920
Camera: Fortunately Nokia has included an 8 Megapixel Carl Zeiss camera like the 920 with Pure View technology. Lumia 820 is also able to shoot videos at 1080p HD. There is also a VGA front cam.
Design: You can change the color of the phone by removing the back cover. This also enables you to get wireless charging feature by purchasing the wireless charging capable cases which can be used with “Fatboy wireless pillow”.
If you are interested in Nokia phones then Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 is the right choice. Opportunity is still there for Windows phones to pitch the Smartphone market. The world is waiting to see if Nokia once the largest handset maker in the world to pull it off.
