Ice creams have always been people’s favourite but there’s a new trend in ice cream that got people hooked – the Ice Cream Rolls. What could be better than a place smelling of freshly made Ice Cream Rolls? Head over to Neeravi at Panavila in Trivandrum.
Set in a renovated vintage house, Neeravi offers you a wide variety of ice cream rolls and chaat under one roof – A first of its kind in the city. Foodies have been flocking to the place to have a piece of their freshly-made delicacies.
If you are new to Ice Cream Rolls, it’s an originally a Thai frozen dessert, commonly available as street food. Unlike most ice creams made in electronic machines, rolled ice cream, which is also known as stir-fried ice cream, is made by hands on a cold steel surface. The increasing popularity has led to ice cream rolls being introduced in India and thanks to Neeravi, we Trivandrumites can also enjoy Ice Cream Rolls.
At Neeravi, different varieties of rolled and stoned ice creams are made in front of you by mixing real fruit flavours, raisins, nuts and other toppings of your choice. The rolls are made by pouring a base of sweet milk on an extremely cold (-22 degree Celsius) steel surface. To this liquid base, different toppings are added, for which metal spatulas are used to chop them into the base and scrape it around to create air.
Once the base is frozen solid, it is spread thinly and scraped at an angle to create the perfect rolls of ice cream. The four-five rolls made out of the base are then placed carefully in a cup and topped with a variety of toppings like whipped cream, chocolate chips, chocolate sauce and fruits, among others.
The process of mixing and rolling different flavours of ice creams and toppings right in front of you adds to the thrill of the experience. Plus, it will take away the boredom of waiting for the dish.
Customised ice-cream is not a new concept, but what makes Neeravi rolls stand out are the fresh ingredients that go into its making. They only use natural ingredient and fruits instead of artificial flavours. With no extra-fat or emulsifiers added, this is ice-cream at its purest.
Their menu has a variety of ice cream rolls and chaat. Strawberry-Oreo & Kiwi-Oreo ice cream rolls two of their popular rolls. There is also tender coconut ice cream roll which is getting popular among regulars. They change their menu and introduce new dishes on a weekly basis. For those who wish to have a drink, Neeravi offers fresh juices as well.
