Trivandrum all set for ‘Run Kerala Run’, At least 50 lakh people expected to join state-wide!

The 'Run Kerala Run' event has been arranged in such a way that anyone, irrespective of age or sex, can participate.

In what is believed to be the largest gathering to join in a run worldwide, the curtain-raiser event to the 35th National Games, “Run Kerala Run” would be held across the state with an estimated 50 lakh people expected to take part.

Run Kerala Run will be major crowd puller in the Capital city where the event will be attended by none other than cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.

The event will be held on January 20 from 10.30 am to 11.30 am at 30 venues across seven districts of the state. At Trivandrum City the run will be flagged off simultaneously from 50 centres within the city and at several more centres in other parts of the district with each course covering a distance between 200 m to 1 km.

Kerala Governor P.Sathasivam would be flagging the main run that would take place in front of the state secretariat and would include Sachin Tendulkar, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and numerous high profile people. Politicians, sportspersons, film personalities, government and private sector employees, students from around 175 schools in the district and members from various residents associations and cultural organisations will also participate in the mass run.

Earlier it was supposed to have 7000 starting locations for the run and now it has crossed 10,000. The authorities are certain the event would get an entry into the Guinness World Records for the number of people taking part.
