Copa Del Rey heading for an El Classico final?

The game ended 24-game unbeaten run of Atletico Madrid!

#Football: It seems like Copa Del Rey finals may witness another El Classico encounter unless Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad give their best in second round semis. In the first round matches that took place yesterday, Real Madrid pulled off a thrilling 3-0 win against last year champions Atletico Madrid, thereby partially settling the scores of last year’s defeat at Santiago Bernabeu final. Barcelona eased past Real Sociedad with a 2-0 win.

Two own goals from Atletico Madrid sealed their defeat. Pepe’s shot was first deflected by Emilano Insua into own net and Real was in front by 1-0 in the 17th minute. Jese Rodriguez, who got into the Real squad in the absence of Gareth Bale scored their second goal from Angel Di Maria’s pass. The misery for Atletico tripled when Di Maria’s shot was deflected by defender Miranda and Real got safe by 3-0 lead. The game ended 24-game unbeaten run of Atletico Madrid!

A goal from Sergio Busquets and an own goal from Enaut Zubikarai helped Barcelona to register a comfortable win over 10-man Real Sociedad. Barcelona opened their attack after the first half with Sociedad a man down. It’s sure that the second round semis will provide classic encounters. For now, an El Classico final is on the cards. However, with these teams, anything can happen in the next round. Let’s wait for the classy encounters!
