With the new service, Google Maps can help you better plan your drive around traffic and save time on the road by showing you real time traffic information directly on Google maps.
Google Maps real-time traffic updates service has been launched in Trivandrum and Kochi. With this Google Maps users in both cities can now see real-time traffic information on the go.
Google extended its Real-Time Traffic Information to 12 new Indian cities which include Trivandrum and Kochi.
“We are constantly working on making Google Maps a more comprehensive, daily tool for Indians and we hope that this new real-time traffic information for 12 cities and all national highways will help drivers across the country find the best routes to their destinations with the fewest delays,” Suren Ruhela, director, program management at Google said.
With the new service, Google Maps can help you better plan your drive around traffic and save time on the road by showing you real time traffic information directly on Google maps. At any given day and time you can see what local traffic is typically like, making your driving easy.
Once the traffic layer is turned on in Google Maps, commuters can see routes mapped out in different colours, indicating the different speed of traffic on those roads. Green means there are no traffic delays on the road, orange indicates a medium amount of traffic and red means heavier traffic congestion.
If you are already on the road and in Navigation mode, Google Maps will also use real time traffic information to more accurately estimate your time of arrival, and to provide options for alternate routes if there are faster options available.
This traffic feature, is available on both mobile and desktop versions of Google Maps. Google Maps real-time traffic information service is already available across 34 cities and all National Highways.
