India would have achieved a new record if they had chased down the target of 407 against New Zealand in the first Test match that was played at Eden Park, Auckland. Shikhar Dhawan (115) along with Kohli (67) paved the way for an incredible victory until New Zealand seamers turned the game after taking the second new ball.

Wagner , Boult and Southee bowled well to defeat the Indians. After Dhawan and Kohli set the stage for the victory, it was left for Dhoni and Jadeja to complete the proceedings. They both scored 54 in just 34 balls and brought down the target to 83 when Jadeja got dismissed. Zaheer gave some support to Dhoni, but New Zealand bowlers were able to pick up wickets at crucial times.
Wagner topped the bowlers list with 4 wickets. He was instrumental in New Zealand’s win. Southee and Boult picked up three wickets each. Brendon Mccullum was selected as the Man of the match for double ton in first innings. The final test of the series will start on February 14th at Wellington.
