Madavoorpara at Kattayikkonam is now becoming a major hangout spot for the Trivandrumites. People flock to this place to enjoy their evening. In the wake of increasing popularity of Madavoorpara, the state government has decided to turn it into a major tourist attraction.
The ancient Kattayikkonam Madavoorpara cave temple and the adjoining sprawling 22-acre area will be developed into a full-fledged tourism centre. The development works in Madavoorpara is being carried out by the Tourism Department in association with the Archaeology Department, were inaugurated by Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran the other day.
The area under the Archaeological Department will soon have ramps built on bamboo, shelters and children’s park beside adventure zone, amphitheatre, floating cottages, water fountain, cafeteria, open stage and amenity centre.
Apart from these, there will be a sundial, stone-paved walkways and seats, yoga centre and cottages. That’s not all, there will also be a paintball facility in the area.
