'Escape from Uganda’ is a thriller set at the back drops of the exotic locations in Uganda. This is the first time that a Malayalam film will be shot completely in Africa.
After getting the State Awards for the Best Actress for her outstanding performance in ‘22 Female Kottayam‘ and ‘Nidra’, Rima Kallingal is now gearing up to try her hand in action. The actress will be seen performing some daredevil stunts in Rajesh Nair’s Escape from Uganda.
‘Escape from Uganda’ is based on real life incident and tells the story of a family living in Uganda who gets trapped in the country. Rima plays the lead role as a mother of three year old. Caught in a fix, she plans an escape from the country.
“So far, I have trained myself in Kalaripayattu and Manipuri martial art Chau mostly for my dance performances. But this will be the first time I’ll be using them in action sequences.”Rima says.
When asked whether she has started intense training for the action sequence she replies “We don’t want to go overboard, especially since I play an ordinary woman in the film. Though we’ve already seen action heroines in Indian cinema, this film will bring to you a more realistic approach to action.”

Adding more excitement, the climax of the movie will be shot in the Luzira Maximum Security Prison, a notorious prison in Uganda. Other exotic locations include river Nile, hot water springs and live volcanoes. The action sequences will be coordinated by Hollywood stunt masters.
The first schedule of the movie will start in September in Uganda. The story is by Rajesh and the script and screenplay are by 3G.
