The proposal was announced by KSFDC chairman Lenin Rajendran at a press conference earlier this month (4th October). The proposal was part of the corporation’s initiative to facilitate the growth of Malayalam cinema.
The project also includes construction of a museum of Malayalam cinema and a food court that offers a wide array of cuisines.

The proposed film city will have the most modern shooting floors and instruments. KSFDC says it will rival the best studios in the country. The light-and-sound show will be modeled on the shows at the Akshardham temple in Delhi and will depict great actors and movies in Malayalam.
KSFDC also plan to tap the potential of the scenic location offered by the studio by building around 40 eco-friendly cottages for the use of film-making crews and film festival delegates.

The revamp project is underway and already a sum of Rs.25 crore of the estimated Rs.100 crore has been granted.
