Mannar Mathai Speaking 2 Movie Review By Sangeeth

The first half is very impressing with decent comedies and one-liners. The combinations scenes were good.

Ramji Rao Speaking and its sequel Mannar Mathai Speaking were laugh riots which no Malayalee can ever forget. Now after 18 years, Mannar Mathai, Gopalakrishnan and Balakrishnan are back in Mamas’ Mannar Mathai Speaking 2.

The film entertains to a decent level, but still lacks that charm the prequels carried through. The latest instalment draws its story from its prequels. After done with the drama troupe, Mannar Mathai, Gopalakrishnan and Balakrishnan are now running Urvashi Tours and Travels. The trio plans to do a play on their 25th anniversary of the troupe. Things go well till they confront their old rival Mahendra Varma, whom they thought dead.

The first half is very impressing with decent comedies and one-liners. The combinations scenes were good.  The second half starts with suspense but it’s not thrilling unlike its prequels. It’s below average and many scenes resemble the prequels.

Mukesh, Innocent and Saikumar have tried their best to relive their characters and have only succeeded to some extent. Biju Menon as Mahendra Varma has done a wonderful job and can be called as the saving grace of the movie. Shammi Thilakan as Koshi, Vijeesh as Manjulan scores well with their comedy numbers.

However the movie fails in both storyline and direction. The sequel failed to touch the same chord with the audience like its prequels. Dialogues, while some of them are well received with laughter, some of them fell flat. Music and BGM were also not good.

Verdict: Below Average
Rating: 4 / 10
