ABCD Malayalam Movie review by Praveen

ABCD sketches their dilemmas in the unfamiliar situations in a very hilarious way.

Martin Prakkat, who debuted as director with Mammootty’s Best Actor, has teamed with his son Dulquar Salman for his second directorial venture ABCD or American Born Confused Desi. The movie has hit the theatres this Friday and got thumbs up from the critics. ABCD is a romantic comedy that contains all the masala to entertain the audience.

John played by Dulquar Salman is an American born Malayalee who leads a luxurious life. However, some unexpected events forced him to leave for his motherland, Kerala.  Kora, his cousin played by Jacob Gregory also accompanies him. With his foreign attire and gentle behaviour, John becomes a star among his relatives here. How he goes through the unfamiliar situations forms the rest of the story. ABCD sketches their dilemmas in these situations in a very hilarious way.

Dulquar’s brilliant performance is the main highlights of the film. The actor is sure to set a new style statement. Jacob Gregory who is famous for his role in Akkarakazhchakal- a Malayalam sitcom produced by American Malayalees has also done his job well. The film has a good pace and Sooraj-Neeraj’s story is very interesting. However, some over-the-top comedy scenes which lack sense are its negatives. With fine performances and rich production values, Martin Prakkat’s direction is very promising. Jomon T John’s camera work is also worth mentioning. Gopi Sunder’s music, artwork and locales are some of the plus points of the film.

In short ABCD is a full length comedy film. Go watch it for some fun and you will definitely enjoy it.
