Ithihasa Malayalam Movie Review by Praveen
Ithihasa
Ithihasa is a fantasy comic thriller that came without much hype. Directed by debutant Binu S Ithihasa stars Anushree and Shine Tom Chacko in the lead roles. What sets Ithihasa apart is that, film has a never seen before plot. We have seen many body-swap films in English but in Malayalam it’s a new theme.
Synopsis
Ithihasa revolves around a thousand-year-old magical ring, which gets into the hands of two thieves, Alby (Shine Tom Chacko) and Vikku (Balu Varghese). Troubles ponder their life since the day they get the ring. In the mean time IT professional Janaki (Anusree) enters their life. Things get worse for them when Alby turns into Janaky and Janaki turns into Alby.
The film lags a little at the beginning, but it brings the narrative to a compelling story. When the first half nears to the interval things get more interesting. Interval is gripping and packs a punch. In the second half the movie becomes a clean entertainer.

Since the director is debutant, you may feel that some elements are missing. But he was able to make it so appealing because of how it was narrated. Overall director Binu has did a good job. The action scenes were also notable. Technical wise, camera work by cinematographer Sinoj P Ayyappan was great. As a debutant, he did an excellent work. Music by Deepak Dev was also good.
Performance wise, Anushree and Shine Tom Chacko delivered an excellent job. The way they did the body-swap was brilliant. Ithihasa will become a turning point in Anushree’s and Shine’s career. Balu was great in his supporting role while Sunil Sugatha as police officer did his part well. All supporting characters have done justice to their roles.
Over all Ithihasa is a feel good movie with a predictable story line. You will have a good time watching it and won’t get bored.
