Jayasurya, Suresh Gopi and Asif Ali in Apothecary

Jayasurya has shed 10 kilos for the movie and the actor has been on a complete vegetarian diet.

After the courtroom drama ‘Melvilasam’, director Madhav Ramadasan is gearing up for his next film ‘Apothecary which will have Suresh Gopi, Jayasurya and Asif Ali in the lead.

The word Apothecary (pronounced in Malayalam as ‘Appothikkiri’) means a doctor in rural areas. The movie will be an out-and-out entertainer with a socially relevant theme, throwing light on a serious issue.

The director said that the movie will also be a thriller.  “There is no such thing as a main character and supporting characters in the movie. All the characters will have equal importance in the film.” said the director without revealing much detail about the movie.

This will be the first time Suresh Gopi, Jayasurya and Asif Ali are acting together. Jayasurya has shed 10 kilos for the movie. The actor has been on a complete vegetarian diet. The movie will have three heroines and according to the reports Meera Nandan and Abhirami has been chosen for the female leads.

The story of Apothecary is written by the director himself while Madhav Ramadasan along with Hemanth Kumar writes the screenplay. Apothecary is produced by Baby Mathew and George Mathew under the banner of Arambankudiyil Cinemas. The shooting of the film is currently progressing in the outskirts of Palakkad.

Madhav Ramadasan received many critical acclaims for his maiden venture ‘Melvilasom’ which tells the story of the court-martial of a dalit soldier which is the adaptation of Soorya Krishna Moorthy’s stage play. The director won many awards for the movie including the 15th Gollapudi Srinivas National award for the ‘Best Debut Director’.
