Njan Steve Lopez Movie Review by Praveen

Last year cinematographer Rajeev Ravi made his directorial debut with the critically acclaimed film, Annayum Rasoolum. Now he is back with his latest movie Njan Steve Lopez.
The film stars Fahadh Faasil’s younger brother Farhan Faasil and daughter of actor Krishnakumar, Ahaana Krishna in the lead. The film is a collective effort of 5 scriptwriters namely Santhosh Echikkanam, Geetu Mohandas, Ajith Kumar and the director himself.
Njan Steve Lopez is set in the capital city of Trivandrum and revolves around a 19-year old teenager Steve Lopez (Farhaan Fazil) son of a police officer George Lopez. Steve lives a happy go-lucky life with his friends, family and his love interest Anjali (Ahaana Krishanan). One day, an incident he witnesses puts his life at stake. The rest of the movie tells his battle between life and death while solving the misadventure he landed into.
Performance wise, Farhaan and Ahaana doesn’t have much to perform. Still they did a good job as a first attempt. Rest of the cast are completely new and many of them are from theatre background. The only familiar face was Vinayakan.
Direction wise Rajeev Ravi has done a brilliant work. Rajeev Ravi was successfully able to tell the story in a realistic way just like he did it with Annayum Rasoolum. However, unlike Annayum Rasoolum, Njan Steve Lopez tells the story in just 2 hours and avoids lag. The script is simple yet very intriguing. Cinematography was spectacular and cinematographer Pappu was able to capture the capital city in all its beauty. Both background score and editing was also impressive.
Njan Steve Lopez is a coming-of-age romantic thriller that satisfies both serious cine-goers and those who just need some entertainment. Njan Steve Lopez is good one time watch.
