Veeram Movie Review by Ajith Kumar
Veeram
After the success of his last movie Arrambam, Ajith Kumar is back with his latest movie – Veeram. Like Jilla, Veeram is also a mass commercial movie mixed with action, comedy and sentiments.
Along with Ajith, the film also stars Tamannaah, Santhanam, Vidharth, Pradeep Rawat and Ramesh Khanna in various roles. Veeram is all about a man who believes in his virtues and considers family is more important than his life.
Vinayagam played by Ajith Kumar and his 4 brothers Vidharth, Bala, Munish and Suhail Chandok are the biggies in their village. They have a unique way of dealing with wrongdoers. However, the crude ways of Vinayagam and his brothers often land them on the wrong side of justice and it is up to advocate Perumal (Santhanam) to bail them out of these tough corners. Meanwhile, Vinayagam who hates marriage falls for Kopperundevi played by Tamanna.
First half is full of fun, romance and action. Second half is typical Tamil masala movie with sentiments and fights. After many movies in which he played the stylish hero, Ajith plays a ‘brave son of the soil’ in Veeram. The actor has perfectly portrayed the role of a good elder brother. Santhanam and Thambi Ramaiah provide the audience with good laughs.
Director Siva has made the movie into a commercial entertainer with a package of comedy and sentiments in good measure. The director has ensured that the movie is enjoyable for Ajith fans and importantly the general family audiences as well. The dialogues carry enough punch to make the fights exciting and also give good emotions to the sentimental scenes. However story is not that interesting.
Positives: Overall it is Thala all the way. Comedy from Santhanam, the direction and songs are the plus points of the film. While, the length of the film and its story are the negatives.
Veeram is a typical masala with Ajith’s screen presence and charisma. If you are a fan of Thala, then you will surely enjoy this film.
